Positano Hotels
Hello all-
Boyfriend & I are attempting 3 nights in Positano in September for under 200E/night. From the internet, these all look great: Pasitea (Best Western) Conca d'Oro Villa Gabrisa But I know photos can be deceiving. Any Fodorites out there willing to sound off on these hotels? Your feedback is much appreciated. :) |
I can't tell you anything about those places, but I can recommend Villa Rosa and Villa La Tartana. IIRC, they both fit your budget. Rosa is higher and therefore probably preferable for the view, but I loved staying at La Tartana.

We also stayed at La Tartana and loved it. Very close to the beach and the church and the shops and everything else, and the view was incredible. The price was right also, something on the order of 150 € in 2005.

We stayed at Albergo California this past September. 150 Euros. Close walk to beach.Had a fantastic time. Room was huge with a terrace looking right at the water. If you do look into this place, ask for a terace view. We were in Room 66.

Thanks cheryl, knoxvillecouple & dok! Those hotels look great! Wish I could be there now on this rainy day...
Are there any Positano restaurants you loved or day trips you'd recommend? |
I ate at Chez Black and Cafe Positano (I think that's what it was called) and they were both fine. I'm not really a gourmet so I can't recommend any high end places.
For day trips, at a minimum you have to visit Amalfi, Ravello, and Capri. Take the SITA bus from Positano to Amalfi, and if you can (and it's not too crowded) sit on the cliff side and look down. (Not for those afraid of heights.) And if you have time, Pompeii obviously. |
Montepertuso has some of the best restaurants in the area. It's a short cab ride from Positano, and many of the restaurants there will arrange transportation for guests in Positano. We loved IL RITROVO, but there's also DONNA ROSA and LA TAGLIETELLA (spelling????), etc. Great food and beautiful views, esp. at sunset!

we took the boat from Positano to Amalfi and the next day went to Capri from Positano. On that webcam you can see the boats coming and going during the Apr-Oct period.Don't know where you are located but I am in San Francisco bay area and I watch the sun come up in Positano about 9:55 pm my time.

Hi Annie - Two restaurants I always return to are:
- Da Costantino: Upper Positano http://www.dacostantino.com/inglese.htm (Best evenings. Book a window table for panoramic views over Positano as the lights come on ...) - La Tagliata: above Montepertuso http://www.latagliata.com/ Best lunchtime. Superb coastal views stretching as far as Capri (- Faraglioni) Hope this helps ... Steve |
