Positano Honeymoon Trip Report

Greetings! My husband and I honeymooned in Positano in October. We loved it so much that I started my own travel blog to share our experience and photos with my family and friends and with everyone who appreciates the beauty of Italy. Please take a moment to read my trip report and view some pictures of the beautiful Amalfi Coast.

Looks like a blast!

"All shops were closed except for a tiny butcher shop where I met a woman who sautéed some sausages and broccoli rabe for us, which she placed in the most amazing bread. We bought a couple of ice-cold Peronis, boated out a bit and enjoyed an amazing lunch together lazing in the sun before heading back to Positano".

Classic La Dolce Vita! Some day you may be one of those drunken Americans!

Beautiful photos - I hadnt realised how pretty Positano is - sounds as if you would recommend the hotel you stayed at?

Hi Stevelyon, I would recommend the Miramare, it's a really special place. The staff was so friendly and accommodating with whatever we needed. We looked forward to relaxing on our terrace every night. However, if you have any problems with climbing stairs, you might want to stay elsewhere. Other than that, highly recommend! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks bostonallison, stairs arent a problem. Did you have to request a room with a view, you looked like you had some stunning views?

Stevelyon: We requested room 210, it is one of the hotel's special rooms - it was amazing. We LOVED our terrace, it was so private and quiet, beautiful views.
TDudette: Glad you enjoyed the report! I love the feedback! I am going to report on the rest of the trip in two different segments: Orvieto, Montalcino and Siena together and then Rome. I'll post the TR here but you can sign up for my blog if you want or "like" it on facebook to see the next reports.

what a great summary! We're going to Positano, Tuscany, Florence and Rome in two months and are just starting to book things now . Hotel choice is really a hard one. Miramare is one we were looking at, but the other two that were recommended were the Palazzo Murat or Buca di Bacco or Palazzo Murat. Did you see any of these three?

While all 4 have excellent reviews, the location/view is what we're looking to base our decision on. So any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Stevelyon: I did extensive research on the room I wanted for my honeymoon. I really wanted a very large and private terrace with sunbeds. If you search Miramare room 210 on google, Fodors or Trip Advisor, you will finds threads/pics on the topic.

Sharonliz: I think you meant to mention a third hotel choice but you wrote th Murat twice. We did pass by the Palazzo Murat, we saw only the hotel's entrance and restaurant, it looked beautiful. Cannot comment on the views from the rooms. The hotel was located not on steps but on the winding shopping road. We ate dinner at Buca one night. It is located right on/above the beach. It's not as high up on the cliff as the Miramare but there is a benefit to not climbing as many stairs. The Buca gets outstanding reviews as does the Murat. It's tough to decide!!

Hi bostonallison! I love your trip report of Positano! I am planning a trip to go there in 2013 and your report really has helped. I bookmarked the restaurants and hotels you stayed so I will check them out. Are you happy with the amount of days you stayed in Positano?

Thanks LadyYogi! I was happy with the number of days we spent in Positano. We were lucky that it was so warm (hot actually) so we could laze around the beach and relax before heading to Tuscany and then Rome (I'm writing a report on the Tuscany portion now). I am happy to answer any other questions you might have.

I look forward to your Tuscany portion. We were there around 5 years ago, did Rome-Tuscany-Venice, and LOVED every bit of it. Now I would like to see Almalfi Coast or the Lake Region. Once I figure out which area we are going to, I will surely ask you some questions. Thanks!

H Allison
Had to reply to this post: we went to Positano on our honeymoon 45 years ago! That hotel is now defunct, so for our silver anniversary we stayed at the Miramare. Loved every moment of it! Hope we will get there again one day...
