Positano & Palermo Hotels

We will be staying in Positano for apx. 6 nights during September. Any recommendations for moderately priced hotels or B&B's would be appreciated. Also, would appreciate advice re: hotels in Palermo.
Grazie e tutti per le informazione

We stayed at Hotel Pasitea. Eventho it is part of the Best Western chain I think it is only for booking. The owner is on premises and is very helpful as is the rest of the staff. The barista, Giorgia was a princess. The bus stops right at the door and the hotel is a 15 minute walk down to the beach. The rooms were great with an individual terrace.

We stayed at Villa La Tartana this past spring...it was only $140 a night. I think it was reasonably priced because it was recently built. Everything was very nice and we had a balcony overlooking the sea.

The staff there was very excellent too and brought us breakfast to our room every morning so we could eat on the balcony.

I recommend the Villa Rosa in Positano; it's about 144 euro now, I believe. Run a search on here, and you will find lots of good things said about it, including the spectacular view of the sea and the mountains from your own private terrace where your breakfast will be served.

We stayed at the Hotel Joli (not to be confused with the Jolly chain) in Palermo. The room was modest but with a clean bathroom, cable tv, internet access and a balcony that overlooked one of the few small squares in Palermo, Piazza Florio. Breakfast was included also. The location was on the border of the old and new part of town which I would recommend. The historic center of Palermo is chaotic and it was nice to be able to see the more 'modern' part of the town, near the opera house, etc.
