Positano and Orvieto hotel help
 

I have read mixed reviews about the Covo dei Saraceni. If you have stayed there what category room did you have and would you recommend it? We have reservations at Villa Rosa but I might prefer being closer to the shops and restaurants. Also, given the choice would you prefer the Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini or La Badia in Orvieto?

We stayed at the Hotel Piccolomini in Orvieto a few years ago when it first opened. It and Orvieto were the highlights of our trip. I know the hotel is not surrounding the Duomo, but the town is so small that is takes 5 min. to get there. The staff was fantastic, the rooms very nice, and the breakfast good. I know the rates have gone up since, but if I were to return I would go back to the PIccolomini. <BR><BR>Denise

Hi GG,<BR><BR>Palazzo Piccolomini is in Orvieto & we really enjoyed both the town & the hotel. Very nice, totally Italian. We loved staying in town & were able to do the evening stroll with the locals.<BR><BR>La Badia is outside the town, nearby in the farmland surrounding Orvieto. You can actually look down on it.

I stayed at the Palazzo Piccolomini both this July and last July. It is a delightful hotel and I would highly recommend it. If you want a "resort" hotel that you never leave, with extensive grounds and a pool, stay at La Badia. If you want a central location from which you can walk anywhere in Orvieto in minutes, you want the Piccolomini.

Thanks for your comments.I have decided to stay at the Palazzo Piccilomini. We will only be there one night and we would like to spend as much time in the article Orvieto as possible. Janice I did read the article in T&L and will try one of the restaurants mentioned. <BR>Now on to Positano. Besides Villa Rosa and Covo dei Saraceni I want to add the Miramare and Marincanto. We will be there 3 nights and I want a hotel that is special.
