Positano
 

We are planning on staying in Positano for 3 days, ending our trip to Italy.

We are visiting Rome, Florence and Venice.

I am worried about the weather, as we will be in Positano on April 8th, 9th and 10th.

Should I be? I have always wanted to go but am now wondering if we should have just spend the extra time in Rome instead of hitting Positano during what could be an iffy time....

As you probably know, Positano is a summer resort, with high season being July and August. Many hotels, restaurants and shops do not open until after Easter weekend, at the earliest. It will be too cold for swimming. Of course, if it is sunny and fairly warm, it's a beautiful town to walk around and take in the views. You could visit Amalfi and Ravello and Pompeii.

The weather can never be guaranteed anywhere. However, we were to the Amalfi Coast twice in mid and late March and the weather was sunny and beautiful...we never used more than a sweater or light jacket. We actually carried our jackets in Capri because it was so warm.

If you want to shop, enjoy the scenery and just doodle for a few days, you will be fine. However, if you want weather warm enough to swim and sun on the beach, you may be disappointed.

You may want to consider this...

Keep loose, be flexible, don't book your lodgings ahead of time. When in Rome you find the weather to your liking, go for it. If not, stay put.

(Have in mind beforehand a few hotel options whom you can call from Rome to make the arrangements.)
