Portuguese coast in high season (august)

Me and my husband are going to Portugal in August and would really appreciate some advice on our itinerary!
I know August is high season and can be really crowded but we dont have any other choice but to travel these weeks.

Were flying to Lisbon the last week in july and plan to stay there for a week, then we would like to spend at least a week by the coast, in some cosy town/village with nice beaches. Were thinking about either find some place to stay near Lisbon and fly home from Lisbon or to go north along the coast ( by car/bus/ or train) and stay in som nice place and then fly home from Porto.

Is it possible to find a place that is not too crowded although in august? With nice beaches suitable for swimming and relaxing and preferably with a nice, not too touristy vibe. We also like good not too pricey local restaurants but have no interest in night clubs or partying. We have no previous experience with Portugal but have heard its not quite as exploited and crowded as many other places this time of year? What places would you suggest? We really appreciate all the input we can get:)

You should try Tróia, although is at 53km from Lisbon, is not yet very touristic and it has incredible beaches.

IMHO the Algarve is too crowded after the arrival of the Barbarian hordes (July and August). I would google "Costa Alentejana" and "Costa Vicentina" instead.
