Portugal or Spain
I plan to go to Seville in April 2016 and then to the ALGARVE region in Portugal. However, was wondering if there is a similar area in Spain? Interested in rock formations, bird watching, small fishing villages with easy bus and train transportation. Perhaps La Herradura or Nerja?

There are interesting areas in both countries in the south. I would go to the Alentejo (the hiking is very good and sightings excellent) in Portugal more than the Algarve, though the Algarve does have a number of bird sanctuaries and a couple of very bird friendly deltas (one of which I go stuck in). The nice thing about the Algarve and the Alentejo in April is there will still be too few tourists to get in the way and the prices are cheaper than those in Spain.

Take a look at the Cádiz region and the Doñana natural park for bird watching:

... and Torcal is just outside genuine Antequera, a 90 mins Train or bus ride from Sevilla. Cádiz is also some 90 mins from Sevilla. http://wild-about-travel.com/2011/07...ing-antequera/
