Portugal or Greece- June 2017
We are planning on travelling for about 3 weeks in June. Which country is cheaper and cooler in June? My friend is concerned by the refugee crisis in Greece. Is it safe at the moment for two women?
Thanks! |
The refugee crisis is really not a concern at all. They won't be where you are. So forgetting that...
What do you want to see on your vacation? I think you should get some guide books and decide what you want to do. We have been sailing in Greece three times (2012, 2015, 2016), plus done Athens and Naxos and Nafplion. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57673639243226 https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57635104334882 https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57627793538740 https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57627668851905 https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57627669385061 We have spent time in Portugal as well and loved it https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57636734183955 https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...57648961467343 I think you need to do some research. Safety is not really an issue, both are safe for tourists. So what do you want to see? |
The flow of refugees to Greece has all but stopped since Hungary and some other European countries closed their borders to migrants a year or two ago. Even at the height of the refugee 'crises' it only affected a few islands within sight of the Turkish mainland.
Greece is one of the safest countries in the world, and I know many women who travel there solo. No idea where you are from, but you will be as safe or safer than at home. |
