Portugal - need help with planning

I am planning to spend 9 days in Portugal in September 12th till 20th. My plans are to visit Lisbon: Monday drive to Obidos; Tuesday drive to Porto; Wednesday drive to Coimbra and then back to Lisbon.
Or Lisbon - Coimbra- Porto - Lisbon.
Please advise.

Thank you.

Really, doesn't much matter. In every city there is one day when museums primarily are closed. I would just check out when that was in your cities and that may dictate how you travel. We loved Portugal. I would not rent a car until ready to leave Lisbon as streets are narrow and trolley cars and elevators are a fun way to get around.

You'll be better off dropping the car off in Porto and taking the train back to Lisbon, unless there is somehting or someplace you want to see along the way back.

Nine days is a fair amount of time.

The distances are not to far apart.

I would go to Cape Roca from Lisbon only because it is the most Western edge Europe.

From there going to Odidos and then on to Coimbra will be done easily

Obidos will take a few hours because you will only want to tour the section inside the old walls.

In Coimbra your first bet is to tour the University perched up on the highest hill in downtown Coimbra.

Have lunch here and then it is off to Porto.

Distance are not that far apart, example :

Lisbon to Obidos(Pronouced Oh- Bee _ Douch) is 50 miles

Obidos to Coimbra is 80 miles and then

Coimbra ( pronounced Queem- Bra)to Port is 74 miles.

If you are driving back from Port to Lisbon then stop off to see some of these places on the way back.

Tomar
Fatima

Alcola Monastery
Batalha Monastery and the lovely

Queluz Place just outside of Lisbon.

I just returned from 16 days in Portugal.

The highway system is terrific.

Portugal is a very rich country, lots of things to, geographically, it's also not that huge in comparison to other countries.

I mainly stayed in Algarve, travel in Lisbon, and visited Sintra, all under 8 days and I was really happy with my trip. Just make sure to plan ahead/and plan to relax!

Here are some suggestions on things to do Portugal:

Hope you have fun, I'm sure you will! :)
