Portugal Itinerary
 

Looking for advice on a 16 day car trip in Portugal for 2 middle aged couples in late October-early November. We will be flying in and out of Lisbon, probably heading North first. We'd like to find 3-4 bases from which to explore, definitely Porto and the Douro valley, W. coast, inland to Evora, winding up in Lisbon 3-4 nights. Probably skip the Algarve, not interested in crazy tourist beach towns and casinos! Food, wine, history, local culture and art are our focus. Any advice on good bases fro exploring, small places to stay, great restaurants/towns?
