Portugal in a kayak?
Hello,
Has anyone done any kayaking in the Mondego River, in Coimbra? Any other outdoor(e.g., mountain bikes)activities you recommend? Also, how is the Montemor-O-Velho castle, just west of Coimbra? Thanks. |
From the title of your post, all I could think about was, well if you made it to Portugal in a kayak you'd probably be featured on the National Geographic Channel. :D

Great minds, crefloors. I was thinking the same thing. Could visualize Larz leaving the NY harbor paddling as hard as he could!
:-) |
Hi Larz, sorry for being silly but I too had the same thought as crefloors and Betsy. And since I have a family member that recently went to work for a company that is involved with filming adventure travels I thought "oh, this is a good subject".
Anyway, I have nothing informative to advise you about so excuse my post. But I sure want to wish you a beautiful time in Portugal. And hopefully someone here on Fodor's will have some information you can use. But if not I would try some other websites as I do not think to many people here on Fodor's are into kayaking. Take care. |
Thanks for the feedback. Whilst I do enjoy kayaking, to do so across the Atlantic ocean is a bit beyond my desire and ability! Actually, there is an organization that leads kayaking trips down the Mondego River, leaving from a spot about 15 miles north of Coimbra. We'll see when we get there. Any particular sights you recommend in Coimbra or Evora? Conimbriga sounds pretty amazing.
Thanks. |
Hi Larz, again I have no knowledge of Portugal except to say that everyone I have know that has visited Portugal, including several friends in Italy, come home raving about Portugal, the country and the people.
Thanks for being such a good sport with our teasing!! And have a beautiful time in Portugal. Hope you can file a trip report. |
