Portugal 15 day Itinerary Help

Portugal in October
Interests: relaxing by beaches, scenery, good good food, museums, culture, art, history.

Transportation: trains/buses

Will start in the Algarve, end in Porto.

What is the weather so far like in October?

Questions:
1. Where would be the best area to stay in the Algarve? As well, willing to take day trips to other side of the Algarve if recommended. What sites are must sees?

2)Will go to Lisbon next. 5 nights. Would it be good to just stop over Evora along the way or should a night be more worthwhile? What area is the best to stay in Lisbon?

3)Porto, what areas would you stay in? Is it worth just making a stop along the way to Coimbra, or rather allocate a night there?

4)Duoro River worth seeing during October? Would this be a day trip or could it be seen with 1-2day cruise given that its October?

Also please feel free to add restaurants "must try" in each region and also even other parts of Portugal needed to see.

Thanks

Weather in October: In the South (Algarve) is warmer than the North (Porto). One might expect some rain.
For trains: www.cp.pt
Algarve: There are several nices places to visit. So, it is difficult to decide which one. However, I would recommend that you check the Pousadas www.pousadas.pt
Evora: sure it is a place to make a stop-over before Lisbon.
Lisbon: beautiful city. A lots to do. The area you are going to stay it is not a problem because public transports are handy to go everywhere. Nice restaurants: Pap´Acorda in Bairro Alto, Chapito in Alfama, and Bica do Sapato in Santa Apolónia.
During your stay in Lisbon, you should also visit: Cascais, Estoril, and Sintra.
Coimbra: I would recommend 2 days.
Porto: a cruise in the river is a must. If you have time take 1 or 2 days.

Thanks for the input LLING --

I'd be flying into Faro. Where would be the best area to stay in the Algarve? West/centro/Eastern side. Maybe someone can help me narrow or tell me their experience in the following areas. Faro, Salema, Alvro, Lagos, Carvoeiro, Portimão etc.
