Porto hotels

and on to Porto - your suggestions as to good hotels - $100-$200 range, ease of access to public transport and restaurants would be good. Thanks

I do not know which dollars you are writing about as there are many.
But have you looked at http://www.booking.com/ ?
Add the city, tick your requirements and up pops a list. Reviews are written by actual guests.

sorry, did not mean to be US centric - I just know people on this site get distressed when one doesn't mention price range. I guess I'm talking 100 - 150 euros or therabouts

Check out pousadas.pt and/or pestana group hotels.. You don't say when but right now pousadas have some great deals.
got an email yeasterday and thought the price alone would encourage me to head there if I had the time and $ !!!

Pestana Porto would be a good option.

yes, check pestana Porto, I love its location. Just booked it for early July for about 135 euros including breakfast.

We (4 couples) were at the Pestana Porto last june, and found it excellent. Unbeatable location on the riverside.

thanks so much - I will definitely check out Pestana Porto. Unfortunately it looks like the Pousada is already booked for our dates

I stayed at Hotel B&B Porto Centro last year, really liked it. Centrally located, clean and inexpensive. I really wanted to stay at Hotel Teatro, but it was not available when I was there in October. Have a great time.
