Porto - History, Culinary, Art and Wine Travel Report

An ultimate guide of visiting the second-largest city in Portugal in a day!

I decided that I had to go and see Porto when I saw a picture of an iron bridge straddling across the river from the cliffs with colorful houses built on both sides. The picturesque cityscape was unique to me – and I wondered “Where is it?”

Unlike many Europe cities, Porto is hilly. Although it doesn’t have a spectacular harbor view from the peak like Hong Kong, it has a double-deck iron bridges that span the Duoro River. Standing on the hundred-year-old Dom Luis I bridge I could view seagulls soaring freely over the body of water, and layers and layers of houses making a concerted effort to Porto's spectacular skyline.

Porto (or called Oporto) is the second-largest city in Portugal, and the city has a great inventory of iconic features for a day trip of Portuguese experience: Search for Azulejos. Enjoy lunch by the Douro and Luis I iron bridge, Try Port Wine, and See Lello & Irmao bookstore and Majestic Café...

Could you post the text here? I'm reluctant to follow links to unknown websites.

I just clicked the link and it is fine!

Looks like a great overview of Porto, thanks knycx! I am thinking of a trip to Portugal and Spain next year and this will be helpful in picking where to go in Portugal!

Same for me, I don't follow links. Too bad for me.

Plus, when all a poster does is post links to their web site, the obvious conclusion is that they are just using Fodors to try to increase their traffic.

Nice @Girlonthego, and yes, my trip to Portugal was surprisingly fun and I had a lot of interesting encounters. I would recommend Cabo da Roca as well :)

Especially when <i>every single</i> thread is a 'TR' w/ a link. No other participation of any sort so my guess is the aim is to drive traffic.

I read the first couple and they were interesting but . . .
