bodhijack,
Where are you staying in Rovinj? I have my entire trip booked except Rovinj.

Hi
Poruc is a very nice place. We stayed there for a couple of nights about 3 yrs. ago. Although not as pretty as Rovinj, we found it very nice. Try the Nono pizzaria there. It's as good as it gets. It's a nice place with an outdoor patio.

We have also decided to return our car in Porec. We are also staying in Rovinj. I looked up the Porec city Web Site and noticed that the public bus route from Porec to Rovinj only runs at 7:35, 9:00, 15:10, 15:55 16:20 and 22:50. If this is right, there is a large gap between 9 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. Something to think about. A taxi is the other alternative back to Rovinj, but I couldn't get an answer of what the fare would be.

Syl,
We are staying at the Adriatic hotel in Rovinj. [email protected] is the e-mail I use. There rates differ depending on the dates you need. We'll be there in early July and the rate is 44€ per person , per night, including breakfast buffet. They hold the reservation with a CC number. You don't need to send in a cash deposit.

What country are you talking about? Just curious.

Images2,
Adriatic Hotel said that they have no parking & we'd have to pay hourly in a public lot.

Underhill,
They are talking about Croatia :)

syl, we too are staying at the adriatica. well located, good reviews, nice price. i think there is parking just outside the pedestrian area for nominal daily rates. i will double-check this and do a posting. (i hope i'm right!) we will be there 19-23june...............

images, thank you, twice. we'll use the car to explore opatija and motovun on 2 different days. also,a little north of porec there is a town on the water named "piran" (slovenia). friends who live in ljubljana say it is very quaint.

Have a wonderful time bodhijack! You will be there before us, by a few days. We begin our trip June 15, going first to Budapest. Then 5 days later we fly to Dubrovnik and work our way up Croatia. We are planning a very full day trip from Rovinj. We plan to drive to Piran,Slovenia, have a look, then drive to Skocjan Caves, just 30 minutes from Piran. They seem pretty interesting. After the 2 hour tour of the caves we plan on seeing Motovun on the way back to Rovinj! I used Michelin to see if the drive times would work. It seems fine. Wish I could gain from your experiences before we leave, but we'll just have to help those after us! Have a wonderful time.

Hi
It's not a long drive to Piran but it's such a nice small town, it's worth a day. We stayed there several yrsa ago in the old town at a hotel. It was very nice, we had a terrace overlooking the Adriatic, very romantic. It's about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to Piran from Rovinj. Piran also has great seafood restaurants.

Hi all!
I just went to Porec yesterday. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The old town was quite nice! We actually stayed on a resort. the Plava Laguna, at the Bellevue Laguna apartments. I guess it was the Croatian equivalent of Amelia Island, FL but it was nice (and great for kids). Regardless, the weather and the seafood was fabulous. Lots of German, Slovene and British tourists, but not overwhelming. June should remain fairly quiet with the sea becoming human soup in mid to late July and August.

Try the Mussels Busara. Yum!

We will be going back.
Cheers,
Jan
