Pompeii to Sorrento?

Do the Circumvesuviana trains go from Pompeii to Sorrento?....or when leaving Pompeii, do you return to Naples, then train to Sorrento?... Thanks!

The trains run in both directions between Naples and Sorrento.

The Pompeii Scavi stop is about midway on the Circumvesuviana between Napoli and Sorrento.

Train goes right from Pompeii, in front of entrance, to Sorrento. Very easy, cheap too.

Naples and Herculaneum are also on the same line.

Great! I was considering an Uber/taxi from Pompeii to Sorrento since we’ll have some luggage, but saw that you can store luggage at the Scavi stop. Hopefully it won’t be too cumbersome on the train, only have a back pack and a carry on. Thank you all!

One more question....Is it necessary to make a reservation for a tour in Pompeii?...

It isn't even necessary to take a tour! Of course, if that's your preference, you can and you will find guides at the entrances. I can't speak to their quality. I chose to visit without a guide, having read extensively in advance and having detailed information with me.

Thanks Kja, that’s great to know...will give me much more flexibility with my schedule.

I’m normally a read up and do it yourself person when it comes to tours, but I joined up with a group of random other travelers at Herculaneum and felt that my experience was enhanced by the guide.

Thanks for your input bon voyage...I haven’t ruled out a guided tour yet.

Please note that bon_voyage spoke about Herculaneum, not Pompeii.

And FWIW, I thought the audio guide to Herculaneum exceedingly good. JMO.
