Thank you for the number and name. How did you learn about him and does he have an e-mail by any chance?

In May of 04, we found an English speaking guide, Carmine, near the entrance. We waited for about twenty or thirty minutes for him to try to put together an English speaking group, but he couldn't get enough people at that time so he took us (two people) alone. It was around 70 Euros for the tour (we included a 10 Euro tip) It seems to be common for English speaking guides to be at the entrance.

I need to know the fastest way to get to vesuvius from pompeii. I am thinking about doing a shuttle bus from rome to pompeii. It will give me 4 1/2 to tour in pompeii, but what I want to do is take part of the time and climb vesuvius, come back to pompeii and do the remaining time there. Can you tell me if this feasible. Should i try another mode of tranpsortation and if so, which one? Thanks

Kia,
Was there an additional cost for the three reservation-room only reservations? I looked at the website and do not see anything. Thanks! |
Two resources to enhance your Pompeii visit:
1. Get the guide book past and present with overlays (reconstructions) so when viewing the ruins you can see what the city of Pompeii once looked like. Also same for the Roman Forum. 2. Read the novel by Robert Harris entitled "Pompeii" with the main character being an aquaduct engineer facing problems just before the eruption. ozarksbill |
