Poll: Your Dream Vacation House in Europe?
Here's the scenario: You just inherited a tidy sum of money - not enough to make you wealthy though - and you love traveling to Europe a couple, maybe three times a year. You're thinking of a little "pied a terre" in a European capital, or maybe a small farmhouse in a rural part of Europe. What would be your choice and why?

First the environment:
On a small hill or little mountain, say at least 300 metres high or so... Then, a view to die for, out toward the sea. (cannot decide on whether the ocean, the lakes or the mediterranean) Then, a beautiful infinity pool with the view. A bottle of champagne, music, etc. Not too far from good food. Now, where to locate this home? The big decision-is it Switzerland and the lakes and mountains? Is it southern France in the hills above the riviera, or around the corner in the pine hills from St tropez down the coast? would it be on Belle-Ile en mer, quiet, but fairly flat, with a small hill and view all around of the open ocean, small houses and nice families, very french? Would it be in the Dordogne valley on a hill with a view, but no water in the distance? Would it be in the Bordeaux/Landes area, with ocean and plenty of it, wines , chateaux and the dordogne valley nearby? Or northern Italy, Como and the other lakes? Or Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket, maybe the Napa Valley in California or farther up the coast? How about St Barths? Nahh. Just for the winter months, that would be the VACATION location when one would leave the PERFECT HOUSE just because they got BORED! oF COURSE, there is always Corsica, the greek islands, med islands. The issue is really, how long would you spend at that perfect house, if you had a tidy sum of money, that would allow you to travel? Hmmmmmm.... |
I would love a house in Marbella, Spain on top of a cliff over looking the Mediterranean. Why? Cause it's so beautiful and love the nightlife!

I want StCirqs house in the Dordogne!!
I can see myself, lolling by a pool, sipping wine..peel me another grape~ |
In a small town in Southern France - not exactly sure where? Maybe the Lanquedoc Rousillon - close to Provence and Spain. In a lively little town - not far from the main square! A small, but nice - two storeys, with lots of fire places and a small garden at the back!
Every morning, I'll walk to the cafe for cappuccino and a croissant - reading the newspaper. Then to the market, butchery etc. - and back home. Realxing and just enjoying the slow pace of life! |

On a Greek Island, either on the cliff overlooking the sea, or right on a beach. That's a tough choice, I would probably choose right on the beach. Everyday in the summer, just lounging on the beach perfecting my tan... reading books... learning Greek... You better believe I'm playing megamillions tonight!!!!!
