Poll: Favorite Castle in Scotland?

Mine would be Glamis, with Stirling a close second.

Well, I must say mine is Stirling Castle. I went to university there for a semester. I loved the town and the castle. I did like the castel ruins up near Aberdeen too !!

ooh are you talking about the one in Stonehaven? Donotter (sp?) I like that one too.

And the really ruined one of Slains (further North of Aberdeen). Walking to it in the winter is not fun though.

On a nice day -- Dunnottar

On a cold or bleak day -- kilchurn

A Biggie - Stirling

A small one - Craigievar

Honorable mention -- Huntly, Edinburgh, Tantallon, Duart

But really - whichever one I am visiting

Yay Janis-I've been to almost all of those! We loved Dunnottar in particular and also Falkland Palace (ok-not a castle). We also loved Kilchurn but Stirling was fab.

Edinburgh is what a castle ought to be...my favorite in all of Europe!

How about Eilean Donan?

I second Kilchurn, Stirling and Edinburgh. I'll add Dunstaffnage though. It is fine to climb around in and the history (one the home of the Stone of Destiny) is quite interesting.

Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven

We've only been to Scotland once, so we don't have a lot of experiences to draw on, but we had the best day of our trip exploring the ruins of Duffus Castle near Elgin.
