I am looking at Hotel Nicholas in Torun. Has anyone stayed there? It is right in the middle of Old Town. My only concern would be noise from late night partiers. Thoughts anyone?

Parties are usually on Fridays and Saturdays nights. If you're staying there on other nights I wouldn't hesitate to book that hotel. Requesting a quiet room may help.

Unfortunately our stay will be on a Friday & Saturday, so maybe a concern? I will contact the hotel and see if they have quiet rooms available.

Thanks

The fortress looks very interesting, but so much farther from town. With only 2 nights I fear it will limit our enjoyment of the town itself.

I have NOT stayed in this specific hotel but stayed a block away, so know this area a bit ( Nicholas Hotel is near Copernicus House Museum which has external cameras etc.so sounds like a good option) and looking at the map that specific area should be fine - BUT as another person have mentioned ASK for a quiet room which is a good idea ESPECIALLY since you are reserving so much in advance, they should not have any problem to accommodate you ( BTW with ANY hotel for special requests - try to communicate directly with hotel - in english after reserving by email rather then 3rd party like booking dot com or similar to guarantee that you will be getting what you are asking for ) ... In Torun check https://muzeumpiernika.pl/en also near Cathedral of St. Johns https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toru%C5%84_Cathedral check when they are open inside for tourists as well as when to visit Tuba Dei ( biggest bell in Poland ) ... Also great view are from top of Ratusz ( Old City Hall ) tower in the middle of the old square. avoid Szeroka street at night especially weekend nights ( sometimes not safe ).

Thanks for the suggestions. I am curious as to the comment about Szeroka street since it seems to be a nice part of town and not far from Hotel Nicholas. What kind of safety issues are we talking about?

Szeroka street during the day is no problem and I would highly recommend walking on it from Stary (old) Rynek to Nowy (new) Rynek ( or to use it to connect to side street - for some architecture gems ) since it is closed to traffic ... but during the evening / night especially during weekend you be getting gang of kids that are up to no good. Kind of know knowledge with locals, so you can also verify with your hotel.

Thank you. I think we will stay clear of that area after dark.
