point-to-point tickets
We're looking at getting point-to-point tickets from Venice to Vienna, so that we can stop in Verona and/or Innsbruck. Where and when is the best place to get them? (i.e. internet, in advance or not, etc)
|
I'd just buy them there. You can do it easily when you arrive in Venice, or during your wandering sround there during the day(s) - - returning to the train station in the middle of the day might not fit in your traipsing, but the American Express office is convenient, and I think they sell them, at no markup.

I agree with Rex, unless you will be arriving the day before you leave and will be in the height of the season on a busy weekend.
|
Couldn't you simply purchase them at the train station in Venice, upon arrival, for the next part of your trip?
|
My answer does not presume that you are arriving by train.

I would be careful about the ticket purchase as the normal route does not go through Verona/Innsbruck. The trains follow a route through Italy via Udine and Austria via Villach. By going through Verona/Innsbruck you are taking a horseshoe route. You would have to specify via Innsbruck. Enjoy yourself...Rich

Hi luttrell,
Interestingly, the Austrian Rail website, http://www.oebb.at/ seems to favor the long way around, with 2-3 changes of train. |
