POD Walking Tours

I don't have an mp3 player or I-POD and didn't have any desire to get one until I saw an article saying that walking tours are being offered up for these things. I haven't done much research but wanted to ask: Anyone have experience with travel related ipod / mp3 files? Do all of them cost $ or are some de gratis? What a cool concept.

One more bump.

Is this the Washington Post story?
It lists sites and prices -- $12-$22.
I'd guess, like books on tape, there's a big secondary market, if you don't want to pay that much. Try ebay, the library, book sales, or maybe share with other peole going to the same destination.

Just did a Google search under "Ipod walking tours" and came up with several hits. Looked at a couple and it gave web addresses on who Ipod walking tours of the US & Europe.

I'd not seen the Wash Post story actually...just a blurb in a travel magazine. I googled and got a boat load of hits but was hoping folks here had actually sampled some. If I put the string in quotes as you did, I get four hits on google. I'll play around and see what I can find though.

Google "audio walking tours" and you'll get more results.

You see, Steve Jobs didn't invent audio tapes or CDs. The first ones I used were cassettes I got from Pan American in the '60s.

If you don't feel a need to carry a ridiculous amount of recorded audio around, you can get a 256mb MP3 player for less than $50.

Sorry, that last link wasn't a very good deal.
