Pocket guidebook/map for London and Rome

Do any of you have a favorite small guidebook and/or map that you like to use for London and Rome. Actually the map part is more important than the guidebook. Something that fits easily in a small purse or pocket. Thanks!

For London, I like the London Mapguide, by Michael Middleditch:

It fits nicely into the outside flap pocket of my travel handbag.

I'll second the London Mapguide; it was very useful last year.

I like the AAA (or AA) Spiral Guides. Very thorough and easy to read maps, small size, and the spiral binding makes them easy to use. I have one for London and for Paris, and I'm sure they make a Rome one.

I bought a Rough Guide waterproof map for Rome - it seemed to include detailed streets and all the sights we needed. (the one for Venice was also very good).

I used the Knopf MapGuide for Rome last year and loved it. It's a small book and each page folds out to show a section of the city. And there are some short descriptions of tourist sites in each neighborhood.

What I liked about it was that it fit right into my coat pocket and I could take it out and focus on a specific neighborhood and I wasn't fooling around with an unweildy map, making me look even more like a lost tourist ;) (which I was!)

I liked it so much I purchased the New York and Paris editions for my trips this year!

I absolutely live by the Red Map when I'm in London (I've also used the Berlin one) The maps are strong and weather resistant but the best part is that they are legible and the transit is laid out clearly. On the back are lists of the most common/recommended sights. Love, love, love this company.

The company also does Rome.
