and now the OP is gone?

I have given up my hair dryer, since every hotel but one that I've stayed in the last ten years had a hair dryer. I didn't like all of them, but they did the job.

I bought a great CHEAP curling iron in a department store (in Germany, as I recall). Since it was so cheap, it had no adjustments, which suited me fine. Since I'm always looking for ways to save even a tiny bit of weight, the very simple curling iron was perfect.

Unfortunately, I lost it somewhere and bought a new one in Warsaw, with some adjustments, therefore with an ounce or two more weight.(I told you I am a fanatic about packing light!)

Recently, my hair has mysteriously become naturally curly. I just wash it, comb it with a wide-tooth comb, fluff it with my fingers, and it looks beautiful. I don't need either a hair dryer or a curling iron.

I think you have the answer, Pegontheroad;
>>I don't need either a hair dryer or a curling iron.

Or as Rick Steves has often advised:
"When on vacation, take a vacation from all the fussing about you hair."

Probably not everyone can do exactly that, but yes, why stress about it? Enjoy your travel and forget your hair, as much as possible.
