MyriamC: Budapest isn't Prague.

Really - are you sure? I thought they were exactly the same place. What's the difference?

If you read carefully, the OP is planning to to Budapest, too. It might be possible to re-work the itinerary to fly to Budapest instead of training there from Prague. Silly me for making the suggestion.

There are no overnight trains from Brussels to Prague.

I mean there are lots of trains that you can leave Brussels in the evening and get to Prague the next day - but they are not overnight sleeper trains. They take at least 14 hours (some as many as 20) and have 3 or more transfers - which mean staying awake all night and switching trains who knows where multiple times in the middle of the night. This make no sense.

Agreed. When someone was asking about "overnight trains" I had just assumed they mean ones that had sleeper cars and were direct runs.

nytraveler - if you read above, the OP has corrected his statement about the overnight train from Brussels as I had told him the same information. He is taking the sleeper from Cologne, not Brussels.

Very fast paced, but doable. My first trip to Prague was also only about 2 days, and in the rain, no less. But if possible, I also think you should drop a city or two. In general, you have very little time in Prague, Budapest and Vienna. Especially when you factor in how tired you may be after the "sleeper" trains. If it were me, I would drop Vienna and Salzburg, or Munich. Also, bear in mind that Salzburg is an easy day trip from Munich.

Thanks for the suggestions... i think ill rework my itinerary and drop munich. The cheap flight to Budapest as suggested by Andrew is also an excellent idea, i never knew there was such a cheap direct flight available.
