Pls Help With Hotel Recommendations in Paris
Hi,
As I am planning a short (3-4 days) trip to Paris (In Aug) and this is my first time to visit the city, I want to be close to the major attractions, to be able to walk to and fro and maximise my time.
Budget-wise, want a mid-segment hotel, 60-100 euros I guess on a single stay basis.
Safe (traveling solo), clean (am a cleanliness freak) and accessible to major attractions is my criteria.
I am anyway checking booking.com, hotels.com, traveladvisor.com, but I have found so much amazing & personalised info on this forum, I would love to hear from people who have been to Paris.

If you want a good walking distance to some major area to stay, try the 6em near the Seine.
Try this booking site to get information. Always check with the hotel to see if you can match or beat the rates.

In my last stay in Paris, I stayed in this region. Easy walking distance to Nortre Dame, St. Chapelle and Musee D'Orsay.
The sixth is a vibrant area, many tourists, but still vibrant.

You want to stay in the 4th, 5th or 6th.

104E for a single.
61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. It is just around the corner from Place St. Sulpice, near 3 metro stops and 4 bus routes. Has AC and an elevator.
The staff speaks English well, and is very helpful. The front desk is staffed 24/7
They can arrange a shuttle pickup to/from CDG for you.
You want to stay in the 4th, 5th or 6th.

Our favorite is Jeanne d'Arc le Marais (//jeannedarc.com.) and actually just finished and confirming my reservation for April. In a great location, St. Paul metro stop, steps from Place des Voges and right in the Marais.

Agree that the 6th is a great area to stay in; you may have to adjust your budget upwards just a bit to stay in that area. Take ira's suggestion...you will want to book quickly sine August is a busy month. If that doesn't work and you can spend a little more...
Hotel de Fleurie is good and well located but the least expensive single room on their site is 129 Euro.

Hotel Louis II is also in a terrific location (my favorite area and so convenient to the Odeon metro and bus stops)...they have promotional rates at 119 Euro.

Hey, am checking out all these hotels. In the meanwhile, how is Le Marceau Bastille? It is located just 550 metres from Bastille Square, and just 600 metres from Gare de Lyon Metro Station. Is this a good location?

Sorry - 60 to 100 euros is not "mid segment" - assuming you mean moderate. It's very strict budget. And since Paris is a large city with sights spread all over it's more important to be close to a metro stop - since otherwise you would have to decide which sights you want to be near.
We try to stay in the 5th or 6th fairly near the river to be able to walk to quite a few places.

any ideas in this area within my budget? The Paris leg is more like a bonus thrown in for me in my trip after Spain vacation is over. Means I am spending a tonful of dough even before I touch Paris..and I wanna spend the rest for my sweet tooth cravings while in Paris

To the OP...not sure why you felt the need to begin a new thread on the same topic, but I'll add my suggestion to the ones you've already gotten: Hotel relais du Marais.

Price is right (if they have availability, of course) and the location near 3 metro stops is great. Added bonus is that this part of the 3rd arr. puts you close to edge of 10th and 11th, where you are likely to find less expensive dining--not to mention fun, colorful neighborhoods.

rtwin--Why don't you give us your exact dates? I'd like to churn a couple hotel search engines, see what comes up for under 100 Euros, and THEN make four recommendations from that finding for you.

I checked out each of the hotels shared by you, mapped against price, location, availability, requirement, etc.
After much deliberation and SO MUCH support from you guys, I have shortlisted the following hotels:
1.Beaugency Hotel, 21 Rue Duvivier, Paris, 75007 – best part location, not-so-good tiny rooms (10 sqm) as consistent feedback & some dust experienced by guests. 108 euros.
2.Hotel Vaneau Saint Germain, 86 Rue Vaneau, Paris, 75007 – 100 meters from Station de metro Vaneau & 300-500 m away from 3 more metro. It’s pincode ends with 7, so would this be close to Eiffel Tower? It says Saint-Germain-des-Prés area. 100 euros.
3.Hotel de Suede Saint Germain, 31 Rue Vaneau, Paris, 75007 – is it near Eiffel Tower? Or other tourist attractions? Well-connected? 110 euros.
4.Hotel Legend Saint Germain, 151 Bis Rue De Rennes, Paris, 75006 - Rue de Rennes in sixth arrondissement, rooms look small but not tired, 120 euros
5.Hôtel Banke, Banke Hotel Paris, Rue La Fayette 20.Paris 75009 - best part 15 sqm room, very rare, seen mostly 10 sqm rooms in Paris. 140 euros. Location-wise, not so sure.
If any of you have personal experience of these hotels or heard of them, please comment.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with any of these hotels. I assume you've checked them out on TripAdvisor. venere.com has reviews also.
St. Germain is a great location for a first visit to Paris. But look up the hotel addresses on a map. Hoteliers often exaggerate the convenience of their location -- as in your #2 and #3 choices where the postal code indicates the 7th rather than the 6th arrondissement.

I know where the Beaugency is. I always talk people out of staying in the 7th for their first time, but that specific location has a lot going for it. In fact, the apartment where we stayed last year (and will this year), is down from the Beaugency, more towards the Seine.
Not only are you practically on top of a metro stop (Line 8, though, isn't the best, but it will do!), but you have a much-visited taxi rank there. You also have some good bus lines nearby.
I'm not fond of the locations of the Hotel Vaneau Saint Germain or Hotel de Suede Saint Germain. Don't get me wrong--they are not dangerous or anything. They more or less keep you out of the action on the ground, although you are close to Metro stops.
The Hotel Legend Saint Germain is in a rather commercial, busy area. Because of a last-minute trip, we had stayed in the Aramis St Germain just up the street from there, and having stayed other places in Paris before, we just didn't love that area, but how you walk to get to St. Germain de Pres area is sort of interesting.

Mimar, yes I have done my background check on these hotels.
AlessandraZoe, as this is my first trip to Paris & first trip solo, I don't mind the busy-ness of streets, infact I think I'd like it. I am crossing out Beaugency, vaneau, de suede...And as for Legend, I think I like the clean & big feel of the rooms too much Banke was a suggestion by the MD of my company who stayed there..it is near some big shopping street / market lafayette or something..supposed to be posh! Rooms were 15 sqm so I was considering it. Though, it is 140 euros and on right side of the river and slightly away from typical first-timer tourist destinations...
I guess it is down to the Legend now!!

My room is a double bedroom 15 sqm with a view of the garden. the hotel most prolly is NEW..hardly 1-2 years old from what I read online. Got it for 120 euros per night. Boutique-y feel. Looks worth lot more. This is part of their opening promo!! TEMPUR mattress & TEMPUR pillows menu!! New hotel almost always means good mattresses and this one has TEMPUR! Overall pic (hopefully that is how it truly is) looked fresh and clean and airy. Is in 6em so hoping for connectivity!!
Finally am all set! Now all anxiety put to rest
