Pls help with hotel in paris

hi everyone> i'm relatively new to this forum and have researched the Paris threads for a comfortable, centrally located hotel in Paris for two people'; there are so many wonderful suggestions, but now I've got way too much info; i don't know what to do .... ... I would like to spend about 110 euros or thereabouts per night, since we are spending about 10 days in Paris. It's our first trip to Paris ! So far< i've looked into the following hotels:

1. hotel de france invalides
2. hotel jacques
3. hotel prince

hotel muguet: N/A\
hotel bonaparte: just faxed them....

So, between the hotels 1-3, any suggestions as to where to stay? I know they're all in different arrondissments, but most of them appeal to me, esp. the rue cler area, st germain, latin quarter. So i haven't decided where we really want to stay.

Also, good access to evening walks, and restaurants, and the metro, of course.

any hotel recommendations are welcomed as well.

Any advice is highly apprecciated. Thank yoU!!

I've been vacationing in Paris almost annually since the mid 70s and I recommend Hotel le Clement on rue Clement in the 6th district. I've stayed in the 6th since the early 80s. This hotel is in a quiet location, however close to all the 6th district action and walking distance to things in the 5th and the 7th. Get a room facing the street however. The street is very quiet as it's on a quiet residentual square. Happy Travels!

I don't know about you, but this time of year in Paris I want an air conditioned room. You will pay a little more for one, but you will be more comfortable and enjoy your trip more.

I don't think the exact location is all that important as long as it is close to bus lines and the Metro because the Metro or the bus will get you to where you want to go very quickly.

I am not convinced that any one location is all that central. Central to what?
The sights, sites, and sounds of Paris are all over and they are strung out for quite a distance along both banks of the Seine. If you are close to one, you are by necessity more distant from another.

I selected a hotel I like based on the fact that it is air conditioned and the room is large enough to swing a small cat. Better still, it is close to 2 Metro lines and several bus routes. It happens to be just over the line in the 14th, but within walking distance of Luxembourg Gardens.

Before jumping at the Clement, bear in mind that some people find the rooms there to be small and the place is not air conditioned.

I know from experience that rooms in Paris can be very hot late in the evening and the Paris climate is humid.

Right now, some hotels are running promotions for July. You did not say when you are going, but other than tomorrow, Paris hotels often cut the prices at this time of year.

beginning in September, prices go back to normal because the city fills up with business people and tourists as well.

Given the hundreds of hotels in Paris, you are bound to find one that is air conditioned, reasonably priced, and central to something. It just depends on what it is to which you want centrality.

thank you both for your response....i will be going in mid september; is it still warm & humid then? Either way, I will probably look into a hotel with A/C b/c if it is warm in Sept, then mu husband will definitely need an A/C. thank again.

This June, our family of four stayed at the Hotel la Boudonnais, in the 7th. Our quad room, #503, had a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower from it's little balcony. It's on a nice avenue and is a quiet, upscale neighborhood with closeby metro. Rue Cler is around the corner. Click on my screen name above and you will find my trip report from London-Paris-Amsterdam, with more specifics about the hotel and restaurants and activities we liked there. You will adore Paris!

Hotel Prince (Eiffel) in the 7th has A/C* and a superior double is 107€. It's been getting some positive comments on Tripadvisor lately... may depend on which rooms the poster had...
* according to parishotels.com

Hotel Bonaparte has A/C but will run a bit over your 110€ budget.

Hotel Residence Monge (5th) has A/C and runs 98-120€ for a double. Opinions seem mixed on whether it's best to get street-side or arenes-view, but I think the majority go for street (and you can reduce any noise by using the a/c).

Pekochan- my wife and I have been to Paris 3 times in the last 5 years and have always stayed in the 6e. Our last two stays have been at the Hotel Pas des Calais. It is right off the blvc St Germaine where there are many restaurants including two famous ones, good shopping, near Metro stop, et al. We have been very happy with this hotel and you might look into it. You should be able to get it via google. We did all of our room arrangements via email and were well-satisfied.

I love the Hôtel de France Invalides - think it's one of Paris's great bargains - BUT it does not have A/C, so if you're going in August or September, I think I'd choose a hotel that does have A/C.
