pls help= Scotland Itinerary
Hi again, Please see my original post.
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...pist&fid=2 I have taken all of the responses into consideration and now am torn about where to stay. Can you give me some feedback on what areas to stay in for the following?
7 April- 10am arrive in Edinburgh. Stay 2 nights (already booked Lantern Guest House)
Drive to Fife (where to stay?) should we stay in Fife for 1 night or two?
Drive toward Inverness- do Blair Castle or Balmoral castle on the way? What town to stay in ? Stay 2 nights
Isle of Skye- 2 nights (suggestions on town to stay in?)
Travel toward Glen Coe/Ft William (where to stay?) stay one night
Sterling 1 night, then drive back to Edinburgh for afternoon flight out.
Any comments welcome!

Thx for your response, Sheila. I mentioned in my post that we in our are late 30's, like hiking/walking, site seeing, not big on shopping. Anything else you want to know? Basically, if it's a "must see" then we'd like it.

I'd stay 2 nights in Fife. one night stands get tiring w/ all the packing/unpacking, checking in/out. Plus there is a lot to see/do in the area. Here is one really nice B&B in Crail which is a coastal village w/ a beautiful harbor about 9 or 10 miles from St Andrews. www.caipliehouse.co.uk/
As for the Inverness area. You have tons of places to choose from. I'd probably stay just east or just west of the city and not IN Inverness itself. www.a1tourism.com/uk/eiland.html is just east of I'ness. www.glenrowan.co.uk/index.htm is about 1/3 way down Loch Ness. And www.homefarmmuiroford.co.uk/ is just west of I'ness near Muir of Ord.
On Skye I'd probably stay at Sligachan or near Portree.
I'd stay in Glen Coe Village or along Loch Linnhe.
And for near Stirling I would probably stay in/near Callander or Aberfoyle/Port of Menteith.

I was in Scotland several years ago, and I absolutely loved Blair Castle. It was beautifully furnished and the grounds were also lovely. We had a picnic on the grounds, while peacocks walked around! My young daughter also loved the fact that she could have a pony ride there! A short ride away from Blair Castle is Bracklin Falls, which I highly recommend. It takes a short hike to get all the way up, and the scenery is beautiful! There are waterfalls that took my breath away. It was one of the prettiest places we saw.
Good luck!
