Please vote on our HONEYMOON = 10 nights in Italy - Venice, Florence, Rome - vote on # of nights in each city!
Please help my husband & me out...we're going in may to europe for our HONEYMOON:
16 days total!
2 days for travel to & from the US, 3 nights in Paris, 10 nights in Italy.
We are definitely going to VENICE, FLORENCE, & ROME...we've also decided to drive from Florence to Rome & stay 1 night in any hillside town along the way that we bump into.
Please vote on one of the following: (these are in addition to the 1 night in a Tuscan village/town):
#1) Venice 4 nights, Florence 3 nights, Rome 3 nights
OR
#2) Venice 3 nights, Florence 4 nights, Rome 3 nights
OR
#3) Venice 3 nights, Florence 3 nights, Rome 4 nights
PLEASE VOTE on #1, 2, or 3!
Thanks!!!
-Olga
p.s. - just some insight into what we like to see & do - we enjoy museums, churches, buildings, gardens, small towns, shopping, wine tasting, sitting at cafes, river cruises, hiking, etc. (we don't want to do museums 24/7)

Thanks to both for the reply!
Patrick - we decided to do it this way (Venice first, Rome last) because we're flying into Paris first (direct flight) & returning from Rome (layover in Paris).
Why would you do it differently? (now I'm curious!)

Minor issue. I always find Rome very hectic and busy (but I love it) and just find Venice to be the most relaxing city. So I think it's nice to end a European or Italian stay with the nights in Venice.
Not a biggie if your flights are already set.

I'd vote for #2, but I'd change it a little. I'd steal a night from Florence, and spend 2 nights in a pretty tuscan town. Then you'd have 3 nights each in Venice, Florence and Rome. Or, you could even switch my suggestion and do 3 nights in tuscany and 2 nights in Florence. Why? Because you are doing 100% cities with this itinerary. If you love cities, that's perfectly fine. To each his own! But I love to slow down in Europe and take in the quaint, charming towns. I think 16 days all in cities would be a stimulating, educational trip, but not quite relaxing enough for a honeymoon. But that's just my opinion. You'll enjoy it either way- you've picked beautiful cities!

My vote is for #1 or #2. We did 5 cities on our honeymoon, and found Rome to be the least enjoyable. It is busy, crowded, noisy, dirty... not the type of place I wanted to be on my honeymoon (I know MANY here will disagree with me, but you mentioned you like 'small' towns)
My hubby calls Rome 'NYC without order'. It has wonderous sites that can be seen in 3 days, but I don't think you need to give it more than that.
Venice on the other hand... We were in Venice for 3 nights, and never even made it out to the Islands!
If I were to change it up a bit, I would do #1 and take a day from Florence and add it to Tuscany... happy choosing! Trav

OR add the extra day to Tuscany -- 2 nights at Locanda dell Amorosa in Sinalunga (http://www.amorosa.it/)

Hi pay,
>3 nights in Paris,...<
You have got to be kidding.
7 nights in Paris
7 nights divided between Florence and Venice: 4/3
Fly into Paris, train to Venice, fly home from Florence.
OR
Skip Paris entirely, and spend the rest of your life regretting it.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! First of all, I second Ira - Paris for a minimum of 5 nights. It's so romantic. After that I'd vote with europhile - would you consider staying more than one night in a small Tuscan town? My husband and I like to do the same things you do, and went last May to Italy. We spent 4 nights in Florence, went to Venice for 3 nights, then to Rome for 4. I didn't want to miss all the sights in Rome so allotted 4 nights - but by the time we'd been there 2 days I was anxious to get out of all these cities and relax in the countryside. We took a train from Rome to just outside of Siena and stayed in a fantastic villa run by 2 Italian sisters - the Villa dei Lecci. It was expensive but the highlight of the trip - like being in someone's beautiful home. Very secluded, in the vineyards yet convenient to the highways to go to Assisi, Siena, and Chianti.
What ever you decide, have a wonderful time and a wonderful marriage!

Actually, I would suggest spending your 3 Florence nights elsewhere in Tuscany and doing a daytrip in to Florence. But then again, I really loved Tuscany and really only liked the museums of Florence. A day trip there was perfect for us and we loved the Tuscan countrysides.
