Hello.

If you dont want to eat cheap Thai or Turkish food, it will be fairly expensive to eat out in Norway, so dont tell me i didnt warn you

Anyhow there are a quite a few good eating institutions in town

Maemo: 2 star michelin restaurant focusing only on local food. 12 course with wine is recommended.

Grefsenkollen restaurant:
Located on top of oslos highest hill, in an old sports lodge from early 1900s. Great view and a must visist for any foodie.

Ekebergrestauranten:
Nice restaurant located in an 1920s architectural gem with superb views over the sea and the city. Food not as good as it used to be, some say, but location here makes it worth a visist. Still a good restaurant in my opinion.

Restaurant oscarsgate
Great restaurant, and a favorite of the state run vine monopoly. Superb wine selection and 1 or 2 michelin stars.

Others worth checking:
Statholdergaarden
Eik
lofotbua

For craft beers:
Olympen
Schouskjelleren
Grunerløkka brygghus
Amundsens

Thank you, Thomas. Yes prices are very high, but I think pretty compatible with US high-end restaurants.

Do you have an opinion on Lofoten (Seafood)? and Statholderens Krostue?

We ate at Lofoten as it was recommended by both a Norwegian friend and an American friend. We thought that the seafood was delicious; it is located on the Aker Brygge by the water.
