You have plenty of suggestions! I would second Hotel Pas des Calais- stayed there last summer- right off St Germaine- some nice restaurants right on the street, and close to Metro.
I have also stayed at Le Sainte Beauve-my favorite. It has website- check it out. |
We just returned from Paris and stayed at the Hotel de France. I liked the hotel very much but they are working on the outside and it is a bit noisy during the day. Here is the address http://www.hoteldefrance.com/.

First, packages/tours change hotels all the time, it's written into the caveats, I'll bet, and there's nothing you can do about it if you agreed to that upon payment--they always allow substitutions on the contracts I've seen.
I booked my room for that period several months ago because the Paris Air Show is around that time, as well as some other things. Relais Bosquet was fully booked back then -- they do have a web site with fairly up-to-date vacancies though, if you want to check, as they run it themselves. I needed a room for a couple nights near La Motte Picquet metro stop, and these hotels were on my list to consider: More expensive: Relais Bosquet Duquesne Eiffel Derby Eiffel (duller but okay, has AC) Bourdonnais www.hotellabourdonnais.fr Splendid www.hotels-exclusive.com Cheaper (more like what you want): Hotel de France Hotel de la Motte Picquet Muguet Hotel du Champs de Mars Hotel Prince www.hotel-paris-prince.com Hotel Beaugency (kinda boring but has AC) www.hotel-beaugency.com Hotel l'Empereur Hotel Londres Eiffel If you are having trouble, and I can imagine given the dates, you might try the Beaugency and Prince as they aren't as well-known. All of these hotels are near the Ecole Militaire metro stop. Of course, there are tons of 2* hotels in other parts of Paris that are nice, but if you want that particular area, the above list is fairly comprehensive. |
Happy,
Some more suggestions, just in case: Hotel Bersoly's Rue de Lille (border of the 6th/7th) phone international : +331 42 60 73 79 Fax international : +331 49 27 05 55 Hotel St. Thomas d'Aquin (7th) http://www.aquin-paris-hotel.com/index.htm 3, Rue du Pres au Clercs Tel. 33 (0) 1 42 61 01 22 Fax: 33 (0) 1 42 61 41 43 Email : [email protected] Hotel de La Motte Picquet (7th) Tél. : +33 - 01 47 05 09 57 ? Fax : +33 - 01 47 05 74 36 http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h7...ttepicquet.htm Or search for availabilities using Atel web site: http://www.atel-hotels.com On the Libertel web site, there's apparently availability at the Libertel Sevres Vaneau, at the rate of 126 Euro per night. That's a pretty good rate, and the location is excellent. http://www.mercure.com/mercure/fiche...he_hotel.shtml Or you could try Last Minute, where you'll be likely finding lower rates: www.lastminute.com Good luck!!! Try the Hotel Elysa LUxembourg at 33 01 55 33 16 55. Its very close to the Luxembourg garden. I stayed there last fall. It's very modest but in a good location.

Try Hotel Clement in the 6th, midway between Odeon and Mabillon metro stops, just a block off St. Germain. One booking site indicates that it still has standard doubles= E 110 (inside courtyard, I hear these are dark)-115 (streetside) . It also has A/C. I enjoyed my stay there last year?it's very centrally located.

Yipppeeeeeee!!!!
Thank, you, thank you, thank you, StCirq, for your recommendation of Hotel de France! I was able to secure a reservation for ALL 3 DAYS! And I don't even have to change rooms! But seriously, thanks to ALL of you, because all of you really came through with very helpful suggestions. You made the process so much faster by recommending your favorite hotels. I was a bit overwhelmed until all of you chimed in with your support. You are a great group! I am sorry that it took me so long to get back to you but I was trying to work with the company I booked with originally. I will be receiving a $130 credit. I was able to get a great rate of 85 Euros/night for the room at the Hotel de France, so it won't be too much of an additional expense. But, it WILL be a great convenience! Thanks again! :) :) :) Thank you again |
Stayed at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie in the Marais area. Great, reasonable restaurants and wonderful location. euro 109 for a double. 3 Rue St Croix (Metro Hotel de Ville) Tel: 01.42.74.71.52. http://www.pariserve.com/bretonnerie/english.htm
enjoy! |
Glad to hear it worked out. I hope you get a nice room with a view of Les Invalides lit up at night.

Hi happy,
So glad for you that it all worked out ok. Have a great trip. adrienne |
Happy, I'm so glad to hear that things are working out. There is nothing worse than being jerked around by a tour outfit! I think you are absolutely making the right choice by switching to a hotel that's more convenient. My husband ended up in a London hospital because of our Paris location outside the city proper (OK, so he didn't want to take the time to go back to the hotel for his jacket). Bravo! Have a great trip!
