I just topped a thread for you that has some good recommendations for Ennis.

In Westport, we really liked Adare House www.adarehouse.net

I liked Temple Gate Hotel and Old Ground gets good reviews. They are both in Ennis.

I stayed Blue Haven in Kinsale and it was very nice.

Stayed at Killarney Park in Killarney and it was very expensive but nice. There are so many good b&b's and guest houses in Killarney, I think if I returned I'd book one of those.

I'll start out by saying that I usually stay out of town as I prefer the quiet. I've never stayed in Ballina.

Westport: Tighbeag http://www.anu.ie/tighbeag/index.html
They are in Murisk at the base of Croagh Patrick overlooking Clew Bay. Beautiful view, great hosts, neither of whom are Irish (1 Scottish, 1 German)

Ennis: Lakeside Country Lodge:

I usually stay in Kenmare instead of Killarney so I have no personal suggestions.

It's been a while since I stayed in Kinsale. I stayed at the Cephas house which I originallt thought was too far to walk to town, but then it turned out to be fine, probably 15 minutes. It sits high above the harbor and a couple of the rooms have balocnies that overlook the harbor.

There are a couple of nice Hotels in the center of Ballina. I always stay either at Crocket's on the Quay or at a nearby B&B called Brigowen. I'm not sure if the latter is still in business. The Owner/Operator is a local radio personality: has written / published several cookbooks.

Crocket's has a good restaurant (trad Irish Music in the front Bar Mondays). Both are on the Moy riverfront. The B&B is just a few steps from Crocket's.
