please help with itinerary in sicily
I have 6 days in Sicily. I will flying in from rome. Do you suggest the east or the west of sicily? I am not fussy with sights. Do I base myself in one city and take day trips or do I spend 2-3 days in different locations?
suggestions on hiring a car or use of public transport. I am travelling in January..
Thanks for all your help

We spent our time on Sicily in Palermo and east. It is difficult to really enjoy Sicily without a car though I expect it can be done. I would get a car and visit about 3 locations, not use one base. Read a few SIcily trip reports for some ideas.

With only 6 days, limit the number of locations. Fly into Palermo, rent a car and visit Trapani, Erice, and Agrigento then return the car and visit Palermo at the end of the week. I would give Palermo 3 days minimum.

Is there any way you could get more days for Sicily? Because 6 days is not enough.
What do you want to see in Sicily? Scenery? Greek temples? Local culture?
Get a guidebook and/or research on the Internet. I always like to look at Google images of places I might want to visit. Try Fodors Destinations (on left in orange strip above). Search this forum for trip reports on Sicily. On TripAdvisor's forum, there's a Sicilian local, vagabonda, who supplies very helpful advice.
None of us knows what you like. But it is likely a car would be helpful.
