That apartment is near the Campidoglio, or Capitoline Hill, a central location. For reviews of many apts. in Rome, check out http://www.slowtrav.com/italy/vr/list.asp?r=Rome.

Have you tried Vrbo.com? You can search apartments by neighborhood at this site. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals...ium-lazio/rome

I rented from realrome.com was very happy. I heard about it from other fodors posters. I stayed in this apartment on via della Reginella, a little pedestrian steet in the Ghetto. So did another poster, Vttraveler.

It's on the second floor so there are two flights of stairs to get to the apartment. They aren't long flights though. Also the second bedroom, which has two single beds, is up the stairs you see in the pictures. If your kids are really young and have a hard time with steps/safety then this particular apartment may not be the best choice but they have lots of other properties to choose from.

I don't get the new sleepinitaly website. Whenever I've tried to view their "maps" recently, nothing comes up--this makes it much harder to comment on location. Who are you dealing with at the agency? You could ask to find exactly where it is, which would be helpful.
I've rented from realrome (mentioned by Apres, above) and everything went smoothly. I also *almost* rented through sleepinitaly, but they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. Otherwise, I was happy with them, and I ask a lot of questions.
I've never heard o Kimama B & B--not a surprise, I don't usually stay in B & Bs, so that doesn't mean it's awful. With two young-ish children, though, I'd lean toward an apartment.

My sister and I stayed at this apt. Dont know if it is practical for you but the agency was easy to deal with.
I love the Campo area and would stay there again.

lada, you don't say when you are visiting. Time of year can make a difference in price. Also, if you're visiting for a longer time, I don't think it's as crucial to stay absolutely dead center.
By the way, I think being near Campidoglio could be very nice but do get the exact address or at least cross streets.

We rented this apartment Oct 97

we absolutely loved it, primarily for the fabulous terrace and the location, literally on the doorstep of the market. It is only 1 bedroom and although the living area can be used as a bedroom for several people, and can be closed off from the kitchen, it may not be suitable for your purposes. Also, unless you plan to use the terrace a lot (we did) or it is the wrong season, it may not be worth the money.
The agency is great to deal with. Campo de Fiori is a fabulous location but be aware of noise. Unless all of you are good sleepers, I would ask about noise anywhere in central Rome, or whether the bedroom windows face the street or plaza etc. Campo de Fiori (and many other places) is loud until the small hours of the morning, every morning.
