Please help with hotel choice in Nice

This will be for a 3 or 4 night post-cruise stay in September. We're hoping not to have to spend more than about $300 per night. Handsome view of some sort would be great, but most important thing for us (after, of course, cleanliness) is that the accommodations be as quiet as possible. Would also, of course, like good bathroom and decently spacious room-- but, again, quiet is most important (both from internal noise-- thin walls, etc-- or from street noise).
Grimaldi and Perouse have been mentioned often. Would be wonderful if someone knows both and can compare/contrast. Any other hotels I should look at?
Thanks so very much!

Well, it's not as expensive as your other options, but we stayed at the Petit Palais. It's in a nice and very quiet residential area near the foot of Cimiez. Our room had a view of the coast. I worried it would be too far from town, but it wasn't a bad walk. We also walked to the Chagall Museum nearby.

I got this hotel from the web site www.silencehotel.com, which lists quiet hotels (or Relais du Silence) in Europe. If quiet is important to you, you might make a note of it. I've used its hotels with success before. But I contact the hotel directly.

Mimar: Thank you for your very thoughtful response. I'd heard of that outfit, but had completely forgotten about it. Will pursue!

I stayed at the Palais De La Mediterainee and really liked it

We also stayed at Le Palais de la Mediterranee. It's a lovely hotel in a great location, but in the summer may run over $300/night.

Le Grimaldi and La Perouse are very good choices, too. La Perouse is about a two-minute walk to Old Nice, which is full of wonderful restaurants, boutiques, and shops. Plus, it has an amazing view over the Promenade des Anglais and the Mediterranean.

Le Grimaldi is farther from Old Nice, but within walking distance. It has gotten excellent reviews online, and should be within your budget.

Good luck with your choice!

If by any chance you want to try staying in Eze just a few miles away from Nice, I have a wonderful place to recommend: http://www.chateaueza.com/rates.php

I prefer to stay in the smaller towns around Nice rather than in Nice itself and this one is probably one of the lower priced hotels. It has a gorgeous view from the terrace restaurant which is also reasonbly priced. It has a great indoor lounge with music where they also serve breakfast if it's too foggy outside in the early morning. You can alternatively stay one night in Eze just to experience it. Plenty of cruise busses make a stop in this beautiful mediterranean village, at times it can be 8 busses simultaneously.

Here's a picture of the Chateau Eza hotel, we were just there last September:

We always stay at the Windsor. Ask for a room facing the garden.

For quiet rooms in a great location check out Beau Rivage.Request a room overlooking their interior courtyard.

Thanks Stu, I always wondered how it's done.
