Trenatilia currently have a transaction problem with cards from outside Italy. You also need to register with them on the "client"section of their fare section under "Client" - bottom left. Visa cards need to be validated with Visa. I'm told that "Flight Centre" Australia will give the same discounted deals for prior purchase as Trenatilia but haven't tried. I'm still waiting for a refund for an amount errounsly taken out for a misfired booking. Trenatilia phone No. 0039 06 6847 5475. Ask for English.

Some of us who are having problems are registered with Trenitalia and have been purchasing tickets for years. This is fairly new that they don't accept out of Italy cc's. It isn't that there is a transaction problem because you can use any cc at the station or in the machines.

Had an initial payment problem with Trenitalia, an incorrect amount being deducted & this was frozen for a three days. Have now booked and received electronic tickets Venize to Firenze & Firenze to Napoli Sept. & Oct. To avoid mistakes I wrote all my Visa numbers and password down before starting the booking process. I had to leave which carriage No. out as i've no idea how many per train & ended up with carriages 1 & 2. Front or back?? With a VISA card it must be accredited by Visa. Initially this was a problem so changed this on-line. Got our fares at less 30% (meno 30). Cheers.

Hi IT WORKED FOR ME! After talking to the customer service rep I used my debit card and pin and it worked. Also now chase has the smart chips in their cards and if you request a pin number from them they will send it so you can use it in Europe and I would guess on the trenitalia website as well. Let me know if anyone else has success this way

Cheers

Hi,

Can anyone tell me about the overnight train from Florence to Paris, whether the switch fare is available for ANY persons 12 years of age or above?

The website has it typed as ''any children 12 years or above''

I'm a bit confused

IMO - You don't want the Switch fare, you want the Smart fare (it's cheaper). What age traveler are you trying to book?
