Please help quick! Mild climates in Europe now?
 

I have two free international tickets ($1000 p/person) that I won for work. I have to book my flight today and I have no idea where I should go. I am going for seven days and don't won't to break the bank. However I want to go somewhere far away from Chicago, preferably Europe. I was going to do Amsterdam but I would like a milder climate beacause I'm traveling Dec. 7-Dec. 14. Please give me some ideas.

How much milder ? Spain is milder, for sure (and Italy , Portugal, Greece...) but it is still almost winter :) Last week we had a cold wave and it snowed even in Majorca...and today there was a flood near Seville...not really mild weather in Europe, I think :)

If you want warm, then definitely head to South America. Or Australia or New Zealand.

If you are set on Europe, try southern Spain - the Andalucia area, Seville, Granada, Cordoba, etc. Or Athens, Greece.

Warmest climate I can think of around here would be Turkey, Greece and Canary Islands. Though it won't be much of a beach weather.
Further afield, you may want to try Tunisia, Morocco, Israel, Egypt.

14 Dec is a cut-off date for cheap pre-holiday transatlantic flights. Airfare goes up substantially after that date.

Canary Islands are beach weather currently - it was 80f last week when I was there

Not too sure if Tunisia or Morocco (except in the very south) would be warm enough for a beach

If you don't need beach weather, but still want something pleasant, I'd go to Rome and south of Rome. (Double-check at weatherunderground.com ).

Got a good life already amatcox. You said it yourself -- you have <i>no idea where I should go</i> for December for milder climate. Go get a brain first. LOLAROTF.

or

Provence: Nice should be mild and uncrowded.

or
South of Spain: Seville, Granada, Costa del Sol.

Don't count on beach weather, but it will be relatively mild.

Ecuador.

The warmest place in Europe at that time is southern Spain or Portugal. Last year at xmas time we were in shirt sleeves and we are today as well.

Stay near the ocean where it is warmer and look to what areas get more rain in Andalucia. ( Inland is much cooler and some areas get more rain than others...it is a big area).

It is a fantastic place to be in winter.

Not as warm in the winter, but the next best is far south Morocco, Turkey and deep Greek Islands. Lots of things are closed in those places though, especially Greece and Turkey which close down a LOT during off season.

I would pick southern Spain..oh that right..I already have! ;) ( We are wintering here for our second winter for those that do not know)

I spent a year in Italy when I was young and that soured me on winters in northern Europe..too much rain...head south if you want sun, sun, sun and lots of great sites too.

I now think this is a prank.
