please help...paris itinerary!
 

I would appreciate any comment on my 3 day paris itinerary. This is my first time to visit the city. I am arriving at 6 am on Day 1 and leaving at 7 pm on Day 3. <BR><BR>DAY 1: Eiffel Tower<BR> Arc de Triomphe<BR> Ave de Champ-Elysee<BR> Seine river cruise<BR><BR>DAY 2: Louvre<BR> Notre Dam<BR> Marais <BR><BR>DAY 3: Museo d' Orssay<BR> St. Germaine

If at all possible you should go to see the Eiffel Tower, and take the Seine River Cruise at night. The first time I saw them was at night and it had an unforgetable impression on me. Its truly beautiful.

Your schedule is very similar to mine on my first trip to Paris. <BR><BR>Make sure that whether you go day or night on the cruise you choose not to go if it is raining. Did that once and it was no good.<BR><BR>Be sure to try to check out les Tuilleries while on your way in or out of the Louvre.<BR><BR>IMO I would add a street market such as Rue Mouffetard or Rue Cler in place of the Marais (unless time permits both)<BR><BR>And if it is a sunny day try adding Ste. Chappelle which is just around the block from Notre Dame.<BR><BR>Wendy

Sounds ok to me with one priviso:<BR>plan your visit to the Louvre carefully.<BR>It is immense and without a plan of action you will end up like many visitors and wander aimlessly through endless galleries.<BR><BR>I am not sure what you mean by St. <BR>Germain. Do you have reference to le village de Saint Germain-des-Pres?<BR>That is the area between St. Sulpice and the Seine??<BR><BR>You will have precious little time for it because given the long lines at CDG airport, you will need 3 hours between arrival and departure, at least.<BR>If you are scheduled to leave at 7 PM, I would be there no later than 3:30.<BR><BR>I will take you 4 hours to do Musee d'Orsay justice. But I suppose you could do a run through in 2.<BR>

PS it seems a shame to leave out<BR>Ste. Chapelle.<BR>

See if you can squeeze in a visit to the Sacre Coeur. It is beautiful to wander up in the late afternoon/early evening and look out over the city.<BR><BR>Also check out Place de la Concorde, and the Tuileries gardens if time permits.

There are always cabs at the Eiffel Tower, and it is a short ride down to the Musee D' Orsay. Another very senic ride is from the Arc de Triomphe to the Louvre--ask the driver to take you down the Champs Elysses. The best way to get around the city is the metro, and better than that by foot, but a few well-planned cab rides can save a lot of time plus allow you to see more of the sights. Hailing a cab is a waste of time--you need to find a cab stand. If it is raining they will be hard to come by.

Tates: One more: If you have time at night go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Take the elevator up then a short climb up a few steps. It doesn't take long and well worth it.
