Looking for advice Espana
Looking to take a trip with a friend to Spain in July for around 11 days. I need suggestions. Want to do some main stream activities but also some off the beaten path. I do speak fluent spanish. Interests:
Sites of beauty
Culinary / Wine
Beach / Spa
Am not interested in museums
Love to mix with the local culture and experience Spain to the fullest. Want to try to avoid the tourist traps. Thanks all ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Most sites of beauty are also popular with tourists .
Experiencing a big country like Spain 'to the fullest" in 11 days is a bit of a challenge
You might wish to concentrate on Catlunya and the North or (very hot) Andalusia and small towns near Madrid.

San Sebastián would be a perfect base. Three of the finest city beaches in Europe, the food capital of Spain together with Barcelona (the whole city is absolutely food-crazy!), beautiful scenery and a culture that people take great pride in. A favourite with Spanish holiday makers. Candidate to be the cultural capital of Europe in 2016:

SPA and thalasso-therapy with traditions right on the famous La Concha beach: http://www.la-perla.net/ingles/historia.htm
From 6th to 14th of July the San Fermin festival is celebrated in nearby Pamplona (about one hour inland with bus). One of the absolute highlights on the Spanish festival program. Famous for the running with the bulls in the streets of the old town, but the festival is MUCH more than that. Wild, crazy and very friendly. You should book accomodation as soon as possible! http://www.sanfermin.com/
One of Spain's most important jazz festivals is taking place in San Sebastián from 21st to 25th of July. Attracts the best artists every year. Been going on since the 1960's: http://www.heinekenjazzaldia.com/?language=es
