Please help - need early June hotel reservations Rome
well, heck - Our only child is graduating from college and we are suddenly pulled into a "spontaneous" trip to Italy with her and her BF's family (they tend more towards last minute, and assuming all will fall into place.) at this point, we head to Rome Thursday, June 9th, for 4 days on our own before the other family arrives, then we'll have 8 days with them - worrying about that next.
My priority: I'm trying to find 2 rooms in a nice/safe hotel with a/c in Rome for self, husband, and daughter for the first 4 nights (June10th - 14th checkout), and will then start on the time frame with the other family (BF is so heavy into finals that he can't start planning til next week).
I'm pulling out my hair on this - we were in Italy ourselves last October - loved it, but had worked ahead of time. I'm leaning towards staying in Rome and doing the day trips we didn't get last fall - but need to have a place to lay my head! looking for good hotel with air conditioning and well-located - is this possible with only about 4 weeks notice??
You guys are always so great - I'm hoping someone can steer me. I'm currently just going through Trip Advisor and trying to contact hotels via emails.

okay - just defaulted to Marriott Grand Flora, since they had rooms and an easy contact. Reviews on TA are good - 329euros/night, but I'd love to find something cheaper (at this point, this trip could equal a college semester!) Still would love any thoughts, and I'm emailing other hotels with hope in my heart (but realism on the brain!) at least my panic moments are over, since we won't be sleeping in a park!

You could try my favourite hotel in Rome -- I'll be there in June myself!
The Residenza in Farnese http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/ho...za-in-farnese/ is a lovely 4-star boutique hotel beside the Palazzo Farnese -- very near Campo de'fiori, an easy walk to Trastevere or the Vatican; 5 minutes for Piazza Navona.
It's about 300 euro for the two rooms, I think -- a bit cheaper than the Marriott and a whole lot more atmospheric, being an historic residence converted into a hotel.
Great A/C, great breakfasts!
