It's not enjoyrome, there was another one someone suggested that just went to pompeii without the stop at the cameo factory, etc.

I know Enjoy Rome has a bus that goes to Pompeii. You tour on your own or pick up a tour guide when you get there. Guides hang out at the main entrance. You can't miss them. I don't know how many hours you have before the bus leaves, but I'm sure it allows for plenty of touring time. I've also heard that American Express offers a nice tour. Check them out on the web. Take plenty of water with you! There's absolutely no shade and the temps are soaring!

Enjoy Rome charges €55.00.

But you can go with the Rome-Pompei daily bus (operator: Marozzi) for approx €13.50 each way.

[American Express charge €115 for their Pompei tour].

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Thanks, Steve.

And to think, this information has been sitting there in the fodors miniguide to Naples and Pompeii for all to see.

Hi Ira - I've mentioned the Marozzi service several times as an alternative to the train or the main bus tour operators, which all waste time IMO with souvenir stops - and charge over €100.

Don't know if anyone's tried them yet ...

Steve, I'll add in that the Marozzi bus will also take you from Rome to Sorrento (since that question come up all the tiime). You get your ticket at the Tiburtina Station and it costs 15.50 euros. It's a direct route with only one stop and eliminates the need for a connection in Naples. The only catch is that leaves just twice a day, at 7 am and 3 pm.
