On MSM the best you'll be able to do is Mere Poularde, but any restaurant with pictures of notables on the walls is suspect IMO and rightly so. I'll be interested in what your MIL has to say about the accommodation and food on MSM.

Not much time for the beaches and Bayeux. The tapestry is definitely worth a look. Lots of driving. I'd just do Honfleur and Bayeux and not MSM.

If you are giving up at least a day in Bayeux for the museum in Caen I think you are making a BIG BIG mistake, in my humble opinion. Let me put it this way...the museum in Caen rates as something to see while Bayeux rates as something to go out of your way to see.

Wow, what great information! I'm also in Brussels and trying to plan a last minute long weekend for my husband and I to Normandy in the beginning of June. Tagging this for my records! What's a realistic driving time from Brussels?

LG: drop me a line sometime if you want to chat about Belgium or euro-travel! I'm enjoying playing in by euro-backyard while hubby works as well my email is purpleturtle98 at gmail dot com.
