Please help me find Antica Gelateria del Corso in Venice

I hear they have one location in Cannaregio, but I haven't been able to find a precise location. Does anyone know where the store is located?

Nestle owns it, and I thought about writing them, but they want you to fill out this ridiculous form that requires too much personal information.

Thank in advance for your help.

Try this contact route. Use a new email address (gmail, etc.) if you don't want to provide your main/personal address.

Thank you for that link, Jean. It requires much less information than the link provided by StCirq, which is the form I did not want to fill out. I've written a note, now let's see if they respond.

wesleymarsh Oct 18th, 2012 09:13 AM

Still no word. Still searching.

Jean Oct 18th, 2012 10:17 AM

Well, I'd certainly give them more than 24 hours to respond.

If you're staying in a hotel in Venice, why don't you email them and ask if they know.

wesleymarsh Oct 18th, 2012 10:24 AM

I'm not staying in a hotel but that's a great idea. What would it hurt if I wrote a few hotels in the area? Jean, you're great.

If you feel lucky, call Nestle's USA headquarters and hope you get a friendly person who has access to info on their global operations: 818-549-6000.

Or contact the Venice TIO either by email now or after you arrive:

I wonder if they only had an event in Venice at some point, but don't really have a store there yet, since there's nothing online about a store there.

wesleymarsh Oct 18th, 2012 04:13 PM

I think I read about an event at San Giorgio Maggiore. Antica had a booth set-up.

One of the hotels got back to me and said the store is near the Rialto Bridge, which puts it in San Marco. They did not know the exact address but they offered to show me on a map.

I got the Cannaregio info from some blog, and I know you can't trust the blogging tourists to know where they are at any given moment. It's possible the store is on a boundary line.

StCirq Oct 18th, 2012 04:51 PM

There is nothing online about a store in Venice. The Via del Corso is a classic Roman street. They have one in Milano. And several Italian (google it on www.google.it) indicate that they closed in Venice in 2009.

I'm quite acquainted with Rome, and I don't believe the "del Corso" in the ice cream shop name has anything to do with Rome. The brand's headquarters are located in Milan.

There is a recent photo of the shop's interior on the internet somewhere. I'm quite confident the store exists. And in this day and age, it's hard to believe there's so little information about it on the internet. It happens.

wesleymarsh Oct 18th, 2012 06:42 PM

I meant to say the Venice shop's interior.

I see their stuff in a lot of restaurant freezers but I can't remember ever seeing a store selling their stuff (exclusively) before. Those bloggers may have ate the frozen (as in mass produced) stuff at a bar.

Is there something in particular you are after there?

wesleymarsh Oct 19th, 2012 05:30 AM

Thanks to Jean's very smart suggestion, another hotel wrote back to confirm the store is located near the Rialto Bridge, in the direction of the Coin Store. Thank you, again, Jean.

Nice to hear the hotels are so responsive to a non-paying customer.

Jean Oct 19th, 2012 07:40 AM

Actually, I suggested the TIO and wouldn't have contacted a hotel I wasn't going to patronize. Oh well. I'm not that picky about gelato.

wesleymarsh Oct 19th, 2012 08:16 AM

I guess it's human nature to assume things. I have my reasons for research, which have little to do with tasting the product.

Jean, your suggestion inspired me, and that's why I thanked you. I'm delighted I got results. I also don't believe a simple kindness must always have a price attached.

".. . I know you can't trust the blogging tourists to know where they are at any given moment . . ."

Maybe said tourists were actually in Milan.

:D

wesleymarsh Oct 19th, 2012 08:40 AM

The photo I saw showed a canal with gondola in the background. Does that say Milan to you?
