Please help me find a particular painting in the Louvre

Where will I find "Liberty Guiding the People" by Delacroix? I only have limited time in the Louvre, and I'd like to go right to it. It would help if I knew which wing and entrance are appropriate. Thanks for your help.

Note that there is now an entrance to the Louvre at the Denon Wing via Porte des Lions. Mona Lisa is in the same wing. Note also that the ground floor is at ground level and the 1st floor is one flight up.

Hi djk,

Do you know the precise location of the Porte de Lions?

Hi ira-

Re: location of Porte des Lions entrance-

Go to:
http://www.louvre.fr/louvrea.htm

Click on "Practical Information" on Left column, then "Access", then on the map itself to magnify it. You'll see where Porte des Lions is.

Two years after my initial inquiry on this matter, I'm lucky enough to be going to Paris again. Is there an on-line floor plan of the Louvre which will help me find specific pieces of artwork? How did BTilke answer my original question so easily?

Thanks for any help you can give me to map out my visit to the Louvre next month.

There's a Louvre online database.

But pick up a floor plan when you get to the Louvre. You can get one in English. The Mona Lisa is in Denon 6. Go through that room and the large-format French paintings are all there (David, Delacroix, Gericault (Raft of Medusa).

You really can't miss it.

I was just there last Saturday.
