Please Help Me Decide on These Paris Left Bank Hotels
I am trying to decide between these five hotels: Hotel des Grandes Hommes, Hotel La Perle, Hotel St. Paul Rive-Gauche, Hotel Louis II, and Hotel Left Bank St. Germain. La Perle and Left Bank St. Germain include breakfast. Does anyone have any preferences? Thank you!

FYI - these might help you

Thank you, Sue. I've been pouring over these threads. Just when I think I've decided, something sways me to another choice. Perhaps I should put the names in a hat and just draw one!

Might help if you told us why you picked these particular hotels.

Hi Dukey1,
I picked these because I read good reviews about all of them and they are in our price range. I think they are all located in good areas -- at least I hope so! My husband and I will only be staying two nights at one of these hotels. We don't need the fanciest of places but would like something clean and comfortable with a nice atmosphere. We have been to Paris several times before but have never stayed on the Left Bank so would like to explore this area. We're not big shoppers but want to stroll through Paris soaking up the atmosphere, eating at little cafes, visiting some of the smaller museums we haven't seen, etc. Hope this explanation helps. |
I've never stayed at any of these hotels but I know that Grand Hommes, La Perle and Louis II are in great locations.
They all get great reviews and made my short list of hotels on my upcoming trip. They are just a little pricey for me, otherwise I'd be staying at one of them - probably La Perle, which looked cute and homey. (I'm staying at a cheaper hotel close by - Le Clement - which is close to both La Perle and Louis II.) |
We stayed at des Grandes Hommes for two weeks over Christmas and New Year's and loved it. We chose this hotel mainly because of the friendly and helpful staff. We also liked the location.
We have not stayed at the other hotels you listed so I can't make a comparison but I feel sure you would be happy with des Grandes Hommes. |
Thanks, Judi. It looks like a great hotel. If you were happy for two weeks, that is a great recommendation!

I just stayed at Hotel Louis II over Christmas. You cannot beat the location of this great little hotel. So close to Odeon metro stop and there are several good cafes and restaurants that are steps away from the hotel. The rooms are small but in Paris, they all are and it didn't bother us. The staff is helpful (especially Louis)and they speak English, if that matters to you. It's just a block off Blvd St Germain and down the street from St Sulpice. The hotel was very clean, as well (important to me).
You can see some on the neighborhood in the photo links in my T/R (Christmas is Paris was fantastic!). I would stay there again...being in that neighborhood was a big part of why we loved our trip so much. It doesn't hurt that Gerard Mulot is a block or two away. |
Thank you, denisea. I have been leaning towards this hotel -- I am so glad you were happy there. I will definitely check out your photos.
And, yes, English is very helpful as my high school French classes were many ears ago! |
