Please help me decide on route from Garmisch to Berchtesgaden!
 

Can't decide which way to go..what is the fastest route and what is the fastest scenic route? Would allowing 4hrs for this drive be adequate? Thanks!

Have you looked at viamichelin.com?

Yes, and their route says about 2 1/2 hrs but everything I've read says it takes much longer.

Look up my response on 8/4 to "Garmisch to Berchtesgaden, A-12?" You could do the trip just in the reverse. It's a 1-day trip.

Just noticed that the 8-4 posting is also yours, and that in both instances you want to go from Garmisch to Berchtesgaden. At any rate, I have driven this route many times.It's very scenic.

Take the road that takes you through REIT IM WINKL and RAMSAU. Very scenic. Both small towns above worth a stop.
