please help final itinerary leaving wednesday

my husband & are are in our sixties married a year ago and going on a belated honeymoon. we will be spending 6 days in ireland at the end of our trip. We are young at heart and would like to see castles, shop, nature , but no hiking. My husband would like to stay 2 nites in a couple of places but i cant seem to work that out. Please help. thanks , abra



Message: Day 1. Arrive 6pm from london. Drive from cork to kinsale. overnite kinsale.

Day 2. See the fort and then drive coastal road to Kenmare. Overnite in Kenmare.

day 3. visit killarney and Kenmare and on to Dingle,drive slea head and conners pass and Overnite in Castlegregory.

day 4?????

Day 5 Drive from Castlegregory to Ballyvaughn. See the cliffs, doolin and burren. overnite in ballyvaughn.

Day 6 . Drive to bunratty, visit limerick & adare dinner at bunratty castle & folk park

day 7 leave shannon for home

How about this:
Day 1: Overnight in Kinsale
Day 2:Overnight in Kenmare
Day 3:Visit Killarney; overnight in Dingle
Day 4: Overnight in Dingle
Day 5:Dingle to Ballyvaughan, see Cliffs and drive through Burren on your way. (In my opinion, Doolin is not a 'must see'.) Overnight in Ballyvaughan
Day 6: Head towards Bunratty, spending more time in the Burren on your way
Day 7:Home

Day 5 would be the only day you'd have to spend too much time in the car. You could break it up a bit by taking the ferry across the Shannon at Killimer/Tarbert and then stopping to see the Cliffs farther up the Clare coast.

I forgot to tell you to have a wonderful time and a happy honeymoon!

Thanks Mary, I think we will take your advise and book a 2nd nite on the dingle peninsula.
Now I am wondering if I should book a 2nd nite in Bunratty and do a day trip to the cliffs and burren rather than pack up and move again. Also are there other suggestions for places sto stay other than Bunratty or Ballyvaughn if we should stay up in that area. Appreciate any input . Thanks Abra

I would vote against a second night at Bunratty. I think the coast of Clare is a much more enjoyable place to stay than the area around Shannon. Ballyvaughan is a delightful town in an area on the coast and next to the Burren. Kinvara, about 5-6 miles east of Ballyvaughan, is also a favorite of mine.
I think you'll be glad for the second night on Dingle!

We stay at Fallon's B&B in Kinvara, but you should know that we prefer in-town B&Bs so we don't have to drive at night. Fallon's is in the center of Kinvara. Haven't ever stayed in Ballyvaughan. You might want to look at www.irelandexpert.com. I think Ballyvaughan is a favorite of hers and she lists several B&Bs and guesthouses there.

Mary, You have been so helpful. Still cant decide between kinvara and Ballyvaughn. Well email Fallon for availability if we choose kivara. Can you tell me what made you choose kivara over ballyvaugn. Thanks, Abra

We tend towards 'off the beaten path' places, so Kinvara appeals more to us. You'll find more B&Bs, restaurants, and pubs in Ballyvaughan...and also more tourists. We enjoy Kinvara's small harbor area with Dungaire Castle in the background. And, we love Green's Pub! On the other hand, Ballyvaughan is a pretty little town in a beautiful location. I don't really think you can make a bad decision when deciding between the two.
