Please help an american tourist

Hi, i live in the U.S., shop at Wal-Mart, and eat at McDonald's. Been thinking about visiting Europe. One question, though. Why do those frenchies talk so funny? Does anyone understand them?

If that's an attempt at humor, I suggest you don't give up your day job!
If the McDonald's french fries are talking to you - you need some help.

Je ne comprends rien ici?
Quelle drole de langue!
Les frites, ils parlent aux Etats-Unis?

Emma Jane Jun 19th, 2002 12:11 PM

See what I mean - they talk funnie. Why does everything have to be so different - why can't they be more like the US of A ??

Emma Jane, welcome to the site! We're kind of bigtime posters here, and when we lay an egg, it splatters all over the place. Big Egg!! Takes practice. But I'm sure you're on the right track. Usually posters begin on the USA board, with WDW discount Q's, and then in time go international and join us here on Europe, asking such questions as whether men need a jacket for the finer places. On the USA board, an equivalent Q might involve whether shoes may be required in restaurants. Nonetheless, welcome, and in time you'll be one of the mainstays. I just have that feeling.

Emma Jane - The Jewels Fern restaurant in Paris now has 2 for 1 coupons - the all you can eat crepe buffet is a bargain.

No Emma Jane, no one understands them. I suggest that with your apparent good taste that you visit the English speaking and friendly area of the United States known as the Mississippi Delta.
They will have plenty of Wal-Marts and McDonald's. France has a McDonalds but the shopping is definately not up to your calibre and is bound to disappoint.
As to the food, anyone with your culinary buds would be appalled at all the sauces and wines used in the cooking and it would surely give you an upset stomach.
Better to sat in your own backyard. N'est-ce pas?

Thanks, Robyn. I've been thinking about going to Gatlinburg and Branson, Missouri, instead.
