"Ravello"

ferry sched in
http://www.capri.net/home/en/transport.php

I would use ferry between Naples/Capri (hate the little train Naples/Sorrento)
and Positano/Amalfi/Salerno. More questionable between Capri/Positano; there your backup plan can be ferry Capri/Sorrento, then bus to Positano.

I think Capri is far more interesting than the rest of your trip put together, so might overnight either there or Sorrento, then you can mop up the crumbs on day 2 (buy roundtrip bus tkt to Ravello in Amalfi).

Thanks jt,
Why buy the roundtrip bus tkt to Ravello in Amalfi? Isn't that the bus go from Amalfi to Salerno will by pass the Revello?
joe

The Amalfi to Salerno bus and the Amalfi to Ravello bus are separate and distinct. You need to buy separate tickets. Amalfi to Salerno completely bypasses Ravello, as it hugs the coastline all the way to Salerno.

Amalfi to Ravello is a separate bus. Ravello is not on the coast road but above it.

SITA buses goes from Positano to Salerno via Amalfi. You have to get off in Amalfi, buy a roundtrip ticket to Ravello, and transfer to another bus(there's a store selling tickets across from the bus stop in Amalfi). I don't know if you can purchase the tickets to Ravello ahead of time in Positano when you start the trip.

It's worth the bus transfer to see Revello, especially the views from Villa Cimbrone but you'll need more than 1 hour. The ride from Amalfi to Ravello takes about 20-30 min. and then you need time to walk around and enjoy the VIEWS.

Ravello isn't on the way, and likely isn't worth your time on such a short trip. If I were to prioritize your mentioned stops on scale of 10, Capri would be 10, Positano 4, Sorrento 3, Amalfi 2, Ravello 1.

Now you didn't mention Pompeii or Paestum, which I would rate both 6 (Herculeam 2). Paestum could be hit first by 9am train arrival. Then bus to Salerno, boat to Amalfi, bus (or boat) to Positano for a nite. There either boat to Capri or bus/boat via Sorrento.
If you don't adore Capri for some reason, you could briefly visit Pompeii.

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by visiting places for an hour. Why not pick one or two place and spend the day?

Thanks for all your help.
How many hours do I need for visiting Revello, Amalfi and Pasitano?
thanks again.

You can see each in an hour or 2.

Joe
Please be advised that the spellings are Amalfi, POsitano and RAvello- Positano has nothing much to recommend it apart from its location, hugging the cliffs with precipitous views. Ravello is high up and has the wonderful Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. Amalfi has a fine cathedral but nothing much else. None of these places have half as much interest as the hill towns of Northern Italy.
