Please help!
We are going to Paris in August and are thinking of staying on the Ile St Louis at either the Lutece or the des Deux Iles. Any thoughts? We would consider the Saint-Louis but have heard that they do not always honour reservations. What is the walking distance to the metro on this island and how about the noise factor?
Otherwise we are looking at staying in Marais at the Hotel du Vieux Marais. Any one have any info about this hotel? Or any tried and true options? Thanks so much. It is our first trip to Paris and want it to be truly special. |
Pas de metro on the island - closest metro across the Seine a stone's throw from island - Pont Marie or Sully Morland on line 7. Cite and St-Michel-Notre-Dame not much farther for other lines.

I'll be it this time! If you repost with the names in the title you will probably get responses from someone who has stayed there. This is so vague many will not even bother to open it.
If you are a new poster...Welcome! |
I think you want to re-phrase your question as too general - some Paris experts who could answer may miss with your 'Please Help!' title - Please Help with Paris Hotels generate much more. sincerely, PalenqueBob

Thanks all for the advice. I will repost.

For access to sightseeing venues up and down the Seine, I recommend the Balabus, which cuts right across the Île. You can download a detailed map of its route by selecting Balabus here:
http://www.ratp.info/orienter/tous_plans_pdf.php The Métro is really only useful for traveling long distances. If you want to go far, figure out your routing from the Pont Marie stop and walk over there - or directly to Châtelet, where 5 Métro and 3 RER (train) lines converge. Your route finder is at ratp.fr If you carry a PDA, you can download an awesome program from nanika.net/metro that will instantly calculate your shortest path from A to B. |
